Who We Are

Action for Rural Education & Agriculture Solutions (AREAS) is a nonprofit, non-governmental organization committed to advancing sustainable development across rural communities in Somalia. Established in 2016, AREAS was founded on the principles of empowerment, equity, and resilience, with a clear focus on addressing the root causes of poverty and vulnerability in marginalized populations.

Our approach is centered on integrated, evidence-based solutions that bridge critical gaps in food security, health, livelihoods, governance, and environmental sustainability. We work closely with local communities, government institutions, and development partners to implement programs that not only meet immediate needs but also lay the groundwork for long-term, self-sustaining growth.

Through thematic areas such as food security and livelihoods, health and nutrition, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), protection and governance, humanitarian response, and environmental conservation, we ensure that interventions are holistic and tailored to community-specific contexts. AREAS prioritizes the empowerment of women, youth, and marginalized groups, recognizing their vital role in fostering inclusive and sustainable progress.
